eBay listing generator

eBay titles and descriptions that get found and sold.

A great eBay listing is two things working together: a title packed with the words buyers actually search, and a photo that makes them stop scrolling. Listly generates both from a single photo of your item โ€” title, description, price range and tags โ€” so you can list in a minute instead of twenty.

What a good eBay listing needs

eBay's search โ€” "Best Match" โ€” reads your title first. If the words a buyer types aren't in it, your item effectively doesn't exist for that search, no matter how good the price is. Then comes the photo: the gallery thumbnail decides whether anyone clicks at all. And finally the description and item specifics answer the questions that turn a click into a sale. Miss any one of the three and the listing underperforms.

Most sellers are good at maybe one of these. Listly's eBay listing generator handles all three at once, from the same photo, so nothing gets skipped when you're moving fast.

How to write an eBay title that sells

eBay gives you up to 80 characters. Use them. A strong title front-loads the words buyers search and follows a reliable order:

  • Brand โ€” the single most-searched word for most items. Put it early.
  • Item type โ€” "chronograph watch," "midi dress," "bookshelf speaker." Be specific.
  • Key attributes โ€” size, colour, material, model number, capacity. These match the filters buyers click.
  • Condition or style โ€” "vintage," "NWT" (new with tags), "excellent condition."

So instead of "Nice dress size M" you get something like "Zara Floral Midi Dress Women's M Green Short Sleeve Summer." Skip filler words โ€” "look," "wow," "L@@K," rows of stars โ€” they eat characters and rank nothing. Listly's eBay description generator writes the title in exactly this shape automatically, then you can tweak it.

Item specifics matter as much as the title. Fill in every relevant one eBay offers โ€” brand, size, colour, material, style. They power the left-hand filters buyers use to narrow results, and listings with complete specifics surface far more often.

Writing the description

The description isn't SEO real estate the way the title is โ€” it's where you close. Keep it honest, scannable and specific:

  • Lead with what it is and its best selling point in one line.
  • State condition plainly, including any flaws. Naming a small flaw builds more trust than hiding it, and it heads off returns.
  • Give measurements for anything where fit matters โ€” chest, length, dimensions.
  • Close with a friendly line about shipping or bundling.

Listly drafts this for you from the photo โ€” a clean, buyer-ready paragraph you can post as-is or adjust. It won't invent details it can't see, so you stay in control of condition claims.

Don't forget the photo

Your title gets you into search; your main photo gets you the click. eBay shows a square gallery thumbnail, and a bright, clean shot on a neutral background beats a dim bedroom snap every time. Listly restyles your existing photo into a studio-quality product shot in the same step it writes the copy โ€” so the listing that ranks also looks the part. Pricing your eBay listing

Price is the last lever. Auction or Buy It Now, "or best offer" or firm โ€” the right call depends on demand and how fast you want the sale. Listly suggests a realistic second-hand range based on the brand, item type and condition it can see, so you have a sensible starting point instead of a blind guess. Our guide on how to price used items goes deeper. You always set the final number.

List faster, sell more

The sellers who do well on eBay aren't necessarily the best writers โ€” they're the ones who list consistently and well, at volume. Turning a twenty-minute chore into a one-minute one is what makes that volume possible. Snap, pick a category, paste. That's the whole loop.
