What all three have in common
Before the platform-specific stuff, the fundamentals are identical everywhere. Nail these and you're ahead of most sellers on any app:
- A bright, clean cover photo. It's the thumbnail in the feed โ it decides whether anyone taps. Natural light, neutral background, item filling the frame.
- A searchable title and honest description. Brand, item, size, colour, condition. Buyers search and filter; give them the words.
- A price that matches the market. Overpriced items sit; wildly underpriced ones make buyers suspicious. Aim for the real second-hand range.
Listly produces all three from a single photo โ a studio-quality product shot, a title, a description, a price range and tags โ which is why it works the same across every app below.
Poshmark
Poshmark is social and US-focused. Sales are driven as much by activity as by the listing itself โ sharing your closet, sharing to Posh Parties, and offering to likers. But the listing still has to earn the like:
- Cover shot first. A styled, well-lit cover consistently out-shares a flat snapshot. A clean product image gives your closet a coherent, boutique feel.
- Use all the photo slots. Add tag, fabric-content label, and any flaws up close. Buyers trust closets that show everything.
- Fill in brand and size. Poshmark's filters and its "size" following rely on it.
- Offers to likers. When people like an item, a small price-plus-shipping discount closes a lot of sales.
Vinted
Vinted is big in Europe and buyer-fee-free, so browsers are price-sensitive and volume matters. It also uses a catalog with structured attributes:
- Choose the exact category, brand, size and condition. These aren't optional metadata โ they're how buyers filter. A mis-catalogued item is invisible.
- Photograph on a plain background. Vinted feeds are a wall of thumbnails; a clean image stands out instantly among bedroom-floor snaps.
- Be precise about condition. "Good," "very good," "new with tags" โ pick honestly and back it up in the photos. Vinted buyers read condition closely.
- Bundle-friendly pricing. Many Vinted sales are bundles; price so a small multi-item discount still works for you.
Depop
Depop skews younger, trend-led and aesthetic-driven โ the shop's overall look matters, not just the individual item:
- A consistent visual style across your listings makes your shop feel curated, which Depop's audience rewards with follows and sales.
- Lead with a strong product shot, then add on-model or styled context if you have it.
- Hashtags and keywords in the description drive Depop's search โ think "y2k," "vintage Levi's," "cottagecore." Listly's tag output gives you a running start.
- Describe fit and measurements; Depop's crowd buys across sizes for oversized/fitted looks.
Cross-listing tip. The same item usually sells on more than one app. Because Listly hands you plain text plus a clean image, you can paste the same listing into Poshmark, Vinted, Depop and eBay โ adjusting only the platform-specific fields โ instead of rewriting it three times.
The one-minute listing loop
Whichever app you favour, the bottleneck is the same: photographing and writing each item. Listly collapses that into snap โ pick a style โ paste. You spend your time sourcing and shipping โ the parts that actually make money โ instead of staging photos and hunting for the right words.
